Slam Dunk is a manga about basketball during a time sports manga are not considered to be successful at all.  Many artist at the time would avoid drawing about any sports as they are not deemed profitable and the publisher would not want anything to do with it.   Maybe it is the right time when Slam Dunk was introduced.  There were not any popular or any manga about basketball.  NBA is gaining popularity in Japan during the 90's so this might be one reason this manga got so popular during that time.    Now there are plenty of basketball manga if one wish to read them.  But during the 90's, all the people's attention is on Slam Dunk only.  Of course the selling point of Slam Dunk is not just on the sport itself.  The story is based on a high school student that was not interested in basketball but learned to like the sport.    The main character faced many challenges along the way with fellow classmates and frien...

One of the most popular manga in the US is Naruto!  Why? Because it has an interesting story line and many characters in the story.  The readers are captivated by the many twists and turns in the story line on how a kid learns the deadly art of ancient fighting skills.  Not wanting to give the main plot away, the interested reader should read or watch the anime.  But be warned, the manga is long but most would find the manga to be better since it started the series: not the anime.   Of course, some people would prefer watching the anime, but if you want the best experience it would be to read the manga, that is where all the series begins.  Nothing beats the manga experience as the author originally intends.   So decide for yourself.  Watch the anime or read the manga and you will find the original Naruto manga to be vast and exciting. If you are interested in reading or watch anime, you will be interested in it for sure! ...
